Unless you want to travel everywhere at 10 mph, you will need tunes and all the other parts before you delete. First you will need to find someone with a modified ecm. The encryption in the stock ecm is coded in the hardware and will not accept an unauthorized reprogram. Then you will need a tuner and tunes. It can still be done.

I struggle to get more then 15-15.5 mpg in this truck and its driving me nuts. Dash MPG's aren't even remotely close except for the 400+ mile range which is about 1 mpg high. It always happens in 3rd or 4th gear under light acceleration. As I said, I had a 13 LML stock, and now have a 18 L5P, both were bought brand new, and the L5P is much quicker!! Not even close! The L5p was a very small exhaust side configuration, small up pipes, small exhaust turbo vanes, etc. So I am guessing the ECM was seeing some very high EGT’s and cut power to keep from melting pistons. Mileage improved a little and I have never reset my 2nd mileage meter which reads 16.2 mpg for the average life of the truck with say 55% city and 35% highway and 10% towing.
