I did find a exposed wire that had been taped up before near the ficm on the alternator bracket. I also found a plug just hanging around in the engine bay on the passenger side near the …P0090 u1800. I have an 02 lb7. Went to replace ignition switch and it created a short somewhere. Engine cranks like its going to start but cuts off as if there is no fuel. I hear what I believe a sound indicating continuous power going to the fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump. If I pull the ignition relay in the main fusebox it stops.

Scanned, P0090 code, cleared it and drove it with the scanner plugged in, pressure was between 4000psi idle and 20000 psi pegged. The issues started getting worse again. Right up until the engine limped and threw a P0090 code that will not clear. I did not get any other codes. No low or high rail pressures. I have battery + voltage on the the purple wire going to the FPR seems like 2.5 volts across the purple/yellow wires.

Fixed them all codes gone except one P0090 Fuel Pressure Regulator circuit malfunction. Oh, my!! You got problems with the Fuel Pressure Regulator Control Circuit (P0090), the injector harnesses/connectors for #2, #3, #5, and #8, and Turbocharger Vane Control Position Sensor (P2563)!! Or maybe you've got a wiring problem. Got some codes and ended up pulling the turbo and giving the vanes a good deep clean, put it back together and they were nice and smooth. I still had the codes so I swapped the VPS and the solenoid with known good ones.

If you're getting a p0090 code, that's for the control circuit for the fuel pressure regulator.
